Everton manager Marco Silva has said that his team carried on the desired club image during the recent 2-0 Premier League defeat at the hands of Manchester City. The Merseyside outfit could not restrict the Citizens from taking maximum points in midweek but they still received a positive feedback from the faithful watching after giving their best against the reigning Premier League.
He said: “It wasn’t just the defensive performance [that was better].We as a team did a lot of things differently. I am not just talking about quality and performance. In all the moments of the match, it was clear that it was more in our image as a team. Of course, the result was not what we wanted or what we desired as a team. But I took some positives. What I expect and what I hope is that we will keep seeing improvements in our squad, and for that to help us get a good result. We are working to achieve that.”
The Toffees have lacked the consistency in the Premier League over the past couple of months and they are currently on a run of three wins from the previous 13 top-flight games. This had recently spread the speculation that Silva could be axed from the head coach role but that certainly won’t be the case with owner Farhad Moshiri publicly issuing his support for the former Hornet boss. Everton may have only drawn the previous outing against Watford but they have a good head-to-head record with them ending victorious in 19 of the previous 27 meetings.
