VELLIOS KEEN TO IMPRESS
Everton striker Apostolos Vellios has said that he wants to impress the manager David Moyes by continuing the goal scoring form he achieved in a match against Morecambe. Everton played their first pre-season match against Morecambe.
Apostolos Vellios, who came on as a substitute in a number of matches and rescued Everton on numerous occasions, opened the scoring for the pre-season tally in this match. He has said that he wants to get more goals in the pre-season, which will help him impress manager David Moyes. Apostolos Vellios comes into the season after having just won the Everton’s Young Player of the Season award last season.
Apostolos Vellios has made no secret that he is looking to impress the manager more than anyone else because it is the tendency of players of his age. He has said that playing regular football is extremely important at this stage and he cannot wait to get the next taste of first-team football. He has also said that it was extremely good to score against Morecambe because it has helped him improve his confidence level. He is also extremely satisfied with his efforts in the gym after he is now significantly stronger than before.
“Of course the players my age are trying to impress the manager. The older players are maybe just focused on getting ready for the new season. For me I can’t wait for every game as it is an opportunity to try and do well. It was nice to score (against Morecambe), but the main thing is that we won. We are Everton and we must win these games. That game is out of the way now and we have another one on Wednesday night,” said Apostolos Vellios after the match against Morecambe. Everton begin the new season against Manchester United at Goodison Park.
